Compass-EOS Extends User Base to CERNET China

We are pleased to work together with Compass-EOS on our planned software-defined networking applications that aim at simplifying network design, deployment and operation.

MILPITAS, CALIF. & NETANYA, ISRAEL, June 25, 2013 – Compass-EOS, the company that introduced the first chip-to-chip direct silicon-to-photonics (icPhotonics™) solution to the router market, today announced the use of its r10004 modular router by CERNET, the China Education Research Network. CERNET, the first and the largest nationwide education and research computer network in China, is using the Compass-EOS r10004 modular routers with multi 100Gbe and 10GbE links in its production next-generation exchange point (CNGI-6IX) connecting universities and institutes across China and to link to the global Internet.

CERNET, the China Education and Research Network, is funded by the Chinese government and connects more than 2,000 universities with more than 20 million users. Future plans for the education network include connecting high schools, middle schools, primary schools and other educational and research entities.

The r10004 is the first in a family of new routers from Compass-EOS. The router family uses the power of silicon-to-photonics to drive bandwidth to petabit densities.
